Budget Hotel 101
Good day everyone, I'm Professor Good-Deal and this is budget hotel 101. Throughout the rest of this article I'm going to tell you everything you could possibly want to know about getting the very best deals on discounted hotels, what to look out for and how you can save yourself a lot of money the next time you book your vacation accommodation.
Sounds good right? Well get your head down, don't talk to the person next to you and keep reading.
Budget Hotel.
Now I don't want to give away my age here, heaven forbid, but when I was a youngster the idea of budget hotels would fill you with horror. You knew when you arrived at the motel or hotel that you'd booked you weren't going to be impressed. If there weren't cockroaches, you'd be a happy man. But those were the sixties and that was almost part of the joy of being on the road... Anyway I digress.
To be honest as much as I try and romanticize it, it was a rather harrowing experience. Nowadays however, budget hotels are fantastic places to stay. In the large motel chains that we are all familiar with there is a very good level of service. As the market for budget hotels has increased the standard of service has been driven up. You can now reasonably expect to get cable TV in addition to the now perfunctory air conditioning and en suite bathroom.
These motels and budget hotel chains are specifically aimed at the budget conscious consumer and there are a lot of people out there who do not want to spend a huge sum on somewhere that they are only going to sleep and wash in. However, there are also a lot of really good deals to be had in smaller independently owned hotels. There might not be a swimming pool out back for you to relax in, or a tennis court for you to have a quick game or two before dinner, but you'll find something that most hotels these days seem to lack. Character.
There is no way a family owned bed and breakfast or guest house can compete with the Hilton in terms of facilities, but it can beat them into the ground in terms of character and very often on price as well. So keep your eyes open for the idiosyncratic places to stay in on your vacation. They'll be memorable and could save you a lot of cash!
Discounted Hotels.
Another way to cut back on your accommodation expenditure when you are on vacation is to search for the best deals you can get on hotels. There is a chance that you can pay motel prices for the services of hotels. When it comes to promotions and one off deals the large hotel chains are the best place to look. They have the cash available to entice you through the doors that independent hotels simply do not have.
Also, you must remember that although the global economic crisis is making you count the pennies, it is also doing the same to the large hotel firms. People are having to cut back on their expenditure and for a lot of people, the first expenses that are cut are those that go on leisure activities.
Whether that means canceling the gym membership, not going out for a drink at night or not going on an expensive holiday, every single one of those decisions affects the business of the hotel chains that offer all those facilities and more. They are looking for your custom like they haven't had to in years so the competition is driving down prices. At least one good thing is coming out of the recession!
Where to Look for the Best Deals.
The best place to focus your efforts when it comes to searching for the best deals available on discounted hotels is on the Internet. Some deals will be distributed via print media, such as national newspapers but this costs the hotel even more money. Look on their website, look on forums, look everywhere. If you are patient and diligent you will find a deal that will save you money! Good luck!
